Cradley Heath dance academy takes youngsters on board cruise

Cradley Heath based ‘Debonair Dance Academy’ will be taking 42 dancers and their families to Barcelona to board MSC Seaview for a week’s cruise around the Mediterranean to entertain thousands of holidaymakers from around the world.

The academy, which celebrates its 25th anniversary next year, has offered students a variety of dance opportunities, allowing them to experience the world of professional performance in New York on Broadway, in London’s West End, the O2 Arena and at the Royal Albert Hall as well as Disneyland Paris.

Next week, the group will head out to Barcelona to entertain holidaymakers aboard MSC Seaview, the sister ship to MSC Seaside on which the academy performed around the Caribbean in 2018.

The 42 dancers will perform dynamic dance medleys to the music of Cher, Gloria Estefan, Queen, Whitney Houston and Riverdance whilst on board. Principal Debbie Baggott said:

“I am delighted to be taking another group of dancers to perform on what will be our sixth cruise to date!

”For us at Debonair, it is so important for our dancers to be given the opportunity to perform on the world stage - it is an incredible way to build confidence and technique and I am so grateful as we are one of only a handful of dance schools in the country to be able to showcase our work on such a scale.

”There is no experience like it and I know that for many professional performers it is their end goal to perform on such stages around the world, so to be giving opportunities like this cruise and our previous West End and Broadway performances to students, some as young as primary school age, is the stuff of dreams.”

This time onboard MSC Seaview, the dancers will sail around the Mediterranean with time to visit Cannes, Genoa, La Spezia, Rome and Palma.

Debonair Dance Academy celebrates its 25th anniversary next year and will be performing a celebratory show “Jubilation” at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre to celebrate on 12 May 2024. Other celebratory performances include an appearance at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End this October and a return visit to Mickey Mouse and friends, performing in Disneyland next summer.
