Dom Joly to bring new live show to Stourbridge

Trigger Happy TV creator Dom Joly is to appear in Stourbridge next year as part of his first UK tour for eight years.

The comedian, broadcaster and author is bringing his new show, Holiday Snaps – Travel and Comedy in the Danger Zone, to Stourbridge Town Hall on Wednesday April 8th 2020. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10am and are expected to go quickly.

Joly shot to fame with Channel 4’s Trigger Happy TV, where his most famous sketch saw him answering a huge mobile phone at the top of his voice in public places. During the show he will be talking about his exploits as a “serial globe-trotter and seeker of dangerous travel spots”. From North Korea through the Congo and Syria to Chernobyl, he’s visited some of the most unusual places on the planet. Alex Jackson, booker for Dudley Borough Halls, said:

"We’re really looking forward to welcoming comedian, broadcaster and best-selling author Dom Joly to Stourbridge Town Hall next year. This will be Dom’s first UK tour since 2011, so it’s a rare chance for fans to see him live in the Black Country.

"He famously attended school with Osama Bin Laden and armed with a trusty PowerPoint, fans can expect his holiday snaps to provide comedy and a sense of danger!"

The best-selling author will meet fans after the show to sign copies of his latest book, The Hezbollah Hiking Club. Tickets for the show cost £18 each and are available online at boroughhalls.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01384 812812. Doors open at 6.45pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Other upcoming comedy shows at Stourbridge Town Hall include Inspector Drake & The Black Widow – a comedy whodunit play from the creators of Doreen – on Friday October 11th and Mitch Benn on Friday November 1st. Regular Kum-n-avaloff comedy nights run at the hall on the first Thursday of the month.

At Dudley Town Hall, Jim Davidson, Dave Gorman, Frank Skinner, Lenny Henry, David Baddiel and Chris Ramsey are all due to bring tour shows in the coming months.

Cornbow Hall in Halesowen hosts regular “Comedy At The Cornbow” nights where Tom Binns brings characters including hospital radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury on Friday December 6th.
