Driver hit PC while speeding away from fuel pump

An unlicensed driver’s been jailed at Wolverhampton Crown Court, after he hit a police officer while speeding away from a garage forecourt in Blackheath.

Dylan Coffin panicked after recognising Pc Aaron Pugh who was climbing from an unmarked car that had tried to block him in at Sainsbury’s fuel station in Halesowen Street.

The 22-year sped from the petrol pump where a friend was filling up the Seat which police had been hunting for several days after it failed to stop when requested.

The car hit the open driver’s door and left Pc Pugh with a back injury. Coffin, a prolific offender of no fixed address, was jailed for 15 months and banned from driving for a year.
