Drivers targeted for a number of traffic offences as part of police operation

Dudley officers joined forces with Staffordshire Police’s traffic and neighbourhood officers to conduct a Multi-Agency Road Safety Operation in Kingswinford last Thursday.

The Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency, HMRC fuel testing unit, alongside waste carrier licensing teams from City of Wolverhampton Council, Dudley Council, and South Staffordshire District Council also joined targeting commercial vehicles to make sure motorists were abiding by the laws of the road.

With the help of traffic officers in unmarked and marked vehicles and bikes, the team stopped 25 vehicles from cars, vans, flatbed trucks, and even 4x4s towing trailers.

Drivers were reported for a variety of offences such as not wearing seatbelts, their vehicles being overweight, having no MOT and tyre offences.

Police also found multiple motorists who had illegal tints on their windows - resulting in them having to peel them off on-site. It was also the end of the road for one driver as we seized his vehicle for having no insurance.

Some were also reported for having insecure loads, including work equipment not securely tied down that could have led to serious consequences.

West Midlands Police will continue to work together to conduct operations like this and create safer roads for everyone.
