Dudley MP backs charity and calls on businesses to get behind its work

Sonia Kumar, MP for Dudley, has visited Provision House on Dudley High Street and is urging local businesses, supporters and residents to help the charity keep helping families across the borough.

Provision House provides furniture, household essentials, and clothing to people facing hardship, helping them turn empty houses into homes. It also runs a weekly Food Club, training programmes that help people into work, and a Social Enterprise Hub supporting new local businesses.

During the visit, Sonia met Chief Executive Mark Price to hear about the charity’s work and how the wider community can support it.

The visit comes as the Government delivers its National Plan to End Homelessness, published in December 2025 and backed by £3.5 billion over three years. The plan puts the focus on preventing homelessness before it happens, alongside ending no-fault evictions through the Renters’ Rights Act. In July, the Government announced a further £340 million to tackle long-term rough sleeping.

Ms Kumar said: “Provision House does something simple and powerful. It helps people who are going through the hardest times of their lives to make a home again.

"Every Home Starter Package that leaves their warehouse is a fresh start for someone in our community. That is down to a brilliant team, and to the volunteers and donors who keep showing up.

"The Government’s National Plan to End Homelessness is backed by £3.5 billion, with a clear focus on helping people before they reach crisis point.

"Local charities like Provision House are a vital part of that. A house only becomes a home when it has the basics in it, and that is what helps people stay settled. If you run a business in Dudley and want to make a real difference in our borough, I would encourage you to get in touch with them.”

Mark Price, Chief Executive of Provision House, added: “Provision House supports people to move from crisis to stability by offering Home Starter Packages, food, advice, guidance, counselling, training and employment support.

"Right now, we are in urgent need of support ourselves to deliver this help to local people.”
