There will be joy and celebration in Dudley this September, when the town centre’s free Pride event returns.
Sponsored by Midtherm, Dudley Pride 25 will be held at Stone Street Square on Saturday 6 September with a full line up of performances and street stalls.
The free event will start at 1pm on stage under a large marquee with a performance by Dudley College, which is supporting Dudley Pride and will be holding its open day at the Broadway site on the same day.
Headlining the stage at 6.30pm is the full show The Ultimate ABBA Party, brought to you by Agnetha's (alleged) twin sister Benetha and her dancers. The party show will have sing-along moments to all the best ABBA songs, interactive dance moves and comedy.
This year will also welcome back some popular artists from last year including crowd favourite DJ Stu Ojelay from Word of Mouth events and Karl M with Best of the Boybands anthems. Bedazzle from Priory House will return to wow the audience with showstopping songs from WMYT West Midlands Youth Theatre and their pop/rock band.
Temper Tantrum and solo singer, George will also be joining the line up on stage. As well as the stage area there will be over 30 stall holders including crafts and food options, as well as facepainting, glitter tattoos and nail art by Beauty Box, street acts and other local businesses in and around the Square and town centre.
Councillor Pete Lee, Mayor of Dudley, said: “Pride events continue to raise awareness of inclusivity of our LGBTQ+ community across all aspects of our lives.
“Our Dudley Pride aims to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere which is inclusive for people of all ages and backgrounds.
“Following the success of Dudley Pride last year, we are hoping to make this year’s event bigger and better. So, get ready to party and head to Stone Street Square on 6 September.”
