Dudley Society Of Artists Gain New Venue For Exhibitions

Talented artists from across the borough are currently showcasing their work at Dudley Canal Trust.

Following the closure of Dudley Museum and Art Gallery late last year, the Dudley Society of Artists were forced to find a new venue for their annual exhibition.

But they landed on their feet after securing space at the popular tourist attraction's visitor centre and the aptly titled 'Beside the Canal' exhibition will run until June 10.

There are around 50 paintings on display at the popular tourist attraction's visitor centre, capturing a variety of subjects in watercolour, oil and acrylic.

Most of the work on display at the Birmingham New Road venue is available to buy.

The exhibition is free to visit and will be open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.

Society chairman, Terry Glazebrook, hopes the exhibition will inspire people to pick up a paintbrush and join them.

The group meet every Wednesday evening atCastle High School in Dudley, where their numbers range from raw beginners right through to experienced practitioners.
