Dudley to get weapons surrender bin

A Bin where people can surrender knives and other deadly weapons is on its way to Dudley.

The bin, which will be the only one in the borough, will give people a place to safely dispose of weapons. The precise location is yet to be agreed.

Councillor Keiran Casey, who represents Upper Gornal and Woodsetton, was keen to have a bin installed in the town following a number of fatal stabbings across the borough over the last 18 months.

They include Tina Billingham, from Cradley Heath, who was stabbed twice with a swordstick on February 6; and 24 year-old Ryan Passey, who was stabbed in Stourbridge's Chicago's nightclub on August 6.
