Dudley Writers’ Festival reaches halfway mark

Dudley Writers’ Festival is now in full swing, with audiences already enjoying a fantastic programme of author talks across the borough’s libraries.

The free festival, which runs throughout the month, has reached its halfway point, but residents still have the chance to enjoy a range of upcoming events featuring bestselling and award-winning authors.

Events still to come include Imaginary Landscapes with poet Chris Tutton and harpist Lucy Nolan at Dudley Library on 19 June.

Crime and thriller fans can look forward to Caz Frear at Kingswinford Library on 20 June and Mark Edwards at Netherton Library on 22 June.

Romance writer Kim Nash will appear at Sedgley Library on 23 June, followed by crime writer Jo Callaghan at Halesowen Library on 24 June.

A sold-out event with bestselling author Gillian McAllister will take place at Stourbridge Library on 25 June.

Later in the programme, film director, screenwriter and novelist Tim Sullivan will appear alongside bestselling crime writer Simon McCleave at Dudley Library on 26 June, before the festival concludes with fantasy author Mike Brooks at Brierley Hill Library on 27 June.

The Dudley Writers’ Festival is now in its third year and brings together established and emerging authors from across the West Midlands and beyond, with events taking place in libraries across the borough throughout June.

Stephanie Rhoden, GLL Partnership Manager for Dudley Libraries said: “This is our third Dudley Writers’ Festival and it’s bigger and better than ever.

“The programme features some brilliant established writers, as well as debut authors who are already making their mark. Their stories will keep you on the edge of your seat, take you to exciting imaginary worlds and introduce an amazing array of characters.

“Reading expands your mind, builds confidence and fuels creativity in a way that no other activity can. Most importantly, it can help you feel better too.”
