Dudley Zoo celebrates record Easter period

Dudley Zoo and Castle is celebrating its best Easter since 2019, welcoming more than 27,500 visitors over the two-week holiday period.

Sunshine and warmer weather during the second week of the holidays saw more than 11,000 visitors flocking to the Castle Hill conservation charity over a four-day period.

Zoo Director Matt Lewis, said: “It was great to see so many families enjoying a day out here at the zoo over the Easter holidays.

“There was a really lovely atmosphere on site as visitors took advantage of the sunnier weather and came to discover more about our amazing animals, with young orangutans, Jim and Joe, the return of the chairlift, the daily bird of prey show and the new castle-themed playground proving particularly popular.”

DZC, which turns 89 years-old next month, is home to more than 140 species, some of which enjoyed seasonal-themed enrichment and egg-shaped ice lollies in the spring sunshine.
