Dudley Zoo Upgrades Mean A Close Encounter With Lions

Visitors to Dudley Zoo will be able to get even closer to their big cats as staff prepare to install a new lookout at Lion Ridge.

The £25,000 platform is set to be built opposite the wild dog enclosure in time for the summer holidays and will give visitors an uninterrupted view of the attractions Asiatic lions – even when they’re enjoying a siesta underneath the Tecton balcony! Zoo Director, Derek Grove, said:

“The lions are one of our most popular species on site and their one-acre paddock is one of our most innovative enclosures. The lions are well settled in there and this additional raised platform will allow visitors greater views of them from all angles.”

Dudley Zoo is home to three Asiatic Lions - an endangered species with only 500 left in the wild.
