Dudley Zoo welcomes new baby sloth

Arriving just in time for the summer holiday's, visitors to Dudley Zoo are able to say hello to their adorable newborn sloth.

Linne’s two-toed sloth, Flo, aged six, gave birth to her and Reggie’s fourth offspring a week-ago.

Both mum and baby are doing well and you’ll spot the newest addition clinging on to mum’s stomach for the next few months.

Native to the tropical forests of northern South America, sloths are decreasing in number, due to habitat loss and predators. At Dudley Zoo, Flo and Reggie are playing an important role in their European studbook-managed breeding programme.

If you’re planning on visiting us over the school holiday, you can see Flo, nine-year-old Reggie and their newborn in the sloth habitat, next to the otters. Meanwhile, older siblings Zippy and Jude can now be found living with the armadillos.
