An elderly woman has suffered serious leg injuries after a collision with a car in Kingswinford.
It happened at the back of the Co-op, off Market Street, at about 10.05am this morning
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford, with two doctors and a critical care paramedic on board, were sent to the scene. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:
“On arrival, ambulance staff found an 88-year-old woman who had suffered very serious leg and pelvic injuries. Ambulance staff and doctors worked on her at the scene to stabilise her condition.
"She received pain relief and had her legs splinted before she was taken by land ambulance on blue lights to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham; the doctors travelled with the ambulance crew".
The driver of the car, a 75-year-old woman was assessed at the scene. She was suffering from shock but was discharged after treatment.
