Exciting new chapter for Dudley’s regeneration programme

The leader of Dudley Council has hailed the town centre’s regeneration programme, as a new leisure destination opens its doors.

Fun City Dudley has opened following the transformation of the historic former art gallery building on St James’s Road.

The venue, which has undergone extensive refurbishment to preserve and enhance original period features, offers a range of entertainment options.

There is a laser tag arena, VR zone, sports simulators, interactive darts, shuffleboards, arcade games, Floor is Lava, private karaoke rooms and a party room, as well as a café and a licensed bar.

It will be a key part of the emerging Entertainment Quarter around Stone Street Square, joining recent additions such as The Glass House and a forthcoming boutique hotel.

Councillor Patrick Harley, Leader of Dudley Council, spoke at the venues recent preview event, celebrating the town’s ongoing regeneration and investment. He said: “This is a fantastic example of how we’re breathing new life into Dudley town centre as a vibrant leisure destination, which will increase footfall and investment,

“It’s part of a wider transformation that’s making Dudley a destination once again and the launch comes amid a wave of investment in Dudley, including £20 million from the Plan for Neighbourhoods.”

Hayley Andrews, Co-Founder of Hush Property Developments, said: “Fun City is about so much more than entertainment – it’s about creating jobs, supporting regeneration, and giving Dudley a space that people of all ages can be proud of. We’re excited to play our part in writing the next chapter of Dudley’s story.”

Heritage-led improvements, such as the restoration of the 1930s Art Deco shopfront at Plaza Mall and enhancements to the Grade II listed drinking fountain as well as other historic features, are also revitalising the town.

Over the past three years, Dudley town has received more than £7.2 million from the West Midlands Combined Authority via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, alongside £1 million from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund, supporting local businesses.
