Families who live in Halesowen can take a first look at the new Halesowen Spoke, which is part of the local family hub network, this morning.
The spoke is located inside Halesowen Leisure Centre and will operate as an outreach resource for families with children who live in the area.
Running from 9.30am to 12pm, the informal drop in event will give people the chance to learn more about the resource, see the leisure centre-based space and meet the team.
Families can also find out about the sorts of activities that will be on offer at the Spoke with sessions taking place at the event to include stay and play, storytelling, infant feeding advice and oral health information.
Dudley's family hub network includes five local family hubs, along with online resources and community services which support children and families across the borough. The local family hubs are located at Brierley Hill, Coseley, Dudley, Lye and Stourbridge.
The network is a one-stop shop, offering advice and support for families in Dudley with children aged 0-19, or 25 if the child has special educational needs and/or disabilities. Families can also access key Start for Life services, covering the period from conception to age two, such as midwifery, health visiting and early years support.
Councillor Wayne Little, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “The Halesowen Spoke is essentially an outreach facility from our nearest family hub, based in neighbouring Lye.
“We know it’s difficult for some families to travel and we hope this will give people who live in Halesowen easier access to services offered across the family hub network such as midwifery and health visiting.
“I hope local families will come down to the leisure centre space on Tuesday and learn more about the services and support that they can access through the team.”
