Family tributes to murder victim as man charged over killing

A man found stabbed to death in Bewdley has been named as Andrew Owen.

Police have charged a man with Mr Owen's murder after the victim was found with knife wounds. Mr Owen's family paid an emotional tribute to him, saying he will be dearly missed by many.

Officers were called to a house in Cherry Close, Bewdley, at around 11.30pm last Sunday, to reports of a disturbance. Mr Owen, aged 45, was found with fatal knife wounds to his neck and abdomen. He died at the scene.

His family described him as a 'loving and proud father' in a statement. They said:

“Andrew was a devoted son, father, nephew, cousin and friend who was much loved by many. Family meant such a lot to him and he was a loving and proud father.

"He was so kind hearted and would go out of his way for anyone and everyone. Known as a hard worker, he was a very keen fisherman and loved to spend his spare time fishing.

"His loss leaves a huge gap in our lives and he will be dearly missed.”

Shaun William Dewey, aged 30, from Cherry Close, Bewdley, was charged with Mr Owen's murder. He was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a 53-year-old man during the same incident.

He appeared at Redditch Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and was remanded into custody to come before Worcester Crown Court on Friday.
