February half term activities across Dudley

Children can enjoy a range of activities taking place in Dudley borough this half term.

Duncan Edwards, Crystal and Halesowen leisure centres will be offering sessions including free swimming, family disability swims, soft play and pickleball. £1 football sessions are also on offer at The Dell Stadium. Full information is online at dbleisure.co.uk.

Children of all ages will love the family pantomime performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at Stourbridge Town Hall with performances running from 11 to 19 February. All Star Superslam Wrestling will return to Dudley Town Hall on Tuesday 17 February and Cartoon Circus Live will bring entertainment to Halesowen Town Hall on Thursday 19 February. Lego clubs, Chinese New Year craft making, biscuit decorating, animal-themed trails, pancake flipping and a Zip the Zebra author talk are just some of the 130 free kids’ activities available in Dudley’s thirteen libraries this half term. For more information, people can visit better.org.uk.

Dudley Museum at the Archives will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4pm, with interesting exhibitions and activities for families to enjoy, including the Art School Trail and a Train Trail.

The museum, which offers free admission and parking, will run free fossil handling and take and make sessions on Saturday 14 February and the popular Diddy Dino’s craft session on Wednesday 18 February with families asked to pre-book online

At The Red House Glass Cone there will be a family trail throughout half term week with a free make and take craft activity for children aged four to eight on Saturday 21 February. There will be family glass fusing sessions on 17 and 22 February, with families asked to pre-book online.

Park Active sessions will be taking place in selected Dudley borough parks. These 45-minute activities are led by a qualified volunteer and gives people of all fitness levels the opportunity to be active outdoors. Families can also enjoy using free outdoor gym equipment with more online about both activities.

Children can enjoy being active with the Junior Parkrun at Stevens Park in Wollescote, which will bookend the half term break. The activity runs at the park every Sunday starting at 9am. People can find out more and register online.

Councillor Wayne Little, cabinet member children services, said: “We are pleased to have activities on offer to keep children of all ages occupied here in Dudley borough this half term.

“The free swimming is very popular, with spaces are on a first come first served basis, and we are reminding families that they need to have registered in order to take advantage of the offer.”

People who have not previously registered for free swimming must do so at freeswimindudley.co.uk in advance of their swim. Parents are asked to read full terms and conditions ahead of their visit.
