Shoppers in Dudley borough will be treated to festive cheer over the coming weeks, as town centres prepare to host their Christmas lights switch-on events.
Organised by Dudley Council, and supported by Mayoral Business Club members Interclass, Jewson, Pegasus and Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill the events promise family-friendly entertainment, markets, and seasonal cheer.
Halesowen kicks off the celebrations on Saturday 15 November, in partnership with Halesowen BID.
Visitors can enjoy a Christmas market, children’s rides, and performances from local acts. There will be street entertainers, music from Heavy Beat Brass and retro fun from Ski Sunday.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Pete Lee, will officially switch on the lights at 5pm, followed by music from Banghra Smash Up until 6pm.
Additional activities include a free children’s craft session at Halesowen Library from 10am to noon and a Christmas Fayre at St John’s Church featuring crafts and tower tours every half hour from 10am to 2pm.
Stourbridge will sparkle on Saturday 22 November, with lights to be switched on at 5pm. High Street will offer a market and stage, while Crown Square will have live entertainment and choir performances.
Visitors to the town can also enjoy music from Heavy Beat Brass Band and retro fun from Ski Sunday and a giant snow globe in Ryemarket Square. There will be a paid for Storytime with Father Christmas at Stourbridge Town Hall, which should be prebooked online.
Also on 22 November, Brierley Hill will offer live music, walkabout acts and fairground rides at the Moor Centre, with the switch on at 4pm. There will also be a free panto at 11am at Brierley Hill Market.
Sedgley will join the festivities on 23 November with a gift market, live music on Vicar Street, and a free panto. Lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.
The final event takes place in Dudley on Saturday 6 December. High Street will be closed from Vicar Street to Union Street for a Christmas gift market, with live music, entertainment, and free panto performances at Provision House. Lights will go on at 5pm.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: "Our Christmas lights switch on events are a wonderful way to bring communities together and celebrate the festive season.
“With markets, music, and family activities across the events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We can’t wait to see residents and visitors join us to make this Christmas truly magical."
Pantomime performances in Dudley and Sedgley are free of charge but need to be prebooked online ahead of the event.
