Finishing touches are taking place at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy in readiness for the start of term.

With the major building work finished, staff are busy moving in and setting up classrooms during the holiday to get the school ready. George Faux, Principal at West Bromwich Collegiate Academy is thrilled with the new school. He said:

“We have a brand-new building which looks absolutely amazing.

"We have all 29 of our staff on-site working really hard during the holidays to set up the school ready and we can't wait for the first students to come through the doors." 

Councillor Joyce Underhill, cabinet member for best start in life, added:

"This is the second high school to open in Sandwell in three years and as there are no nearby secondary schools, West Bromwich Collegiate Academy will provide much-needed school places.

"The brand-new school will provide a wonderful environment for children to learn and we are very pleased to have Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust as our partners who will run the school." 

Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust will run the West Bromwich school. They have a proven record of running an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ high school in Smethwick along with many primary schools both in Sandwell and further afield.

The new school is set to open in September 2019 to 175 year seven pupils. Each year another set of pupils will join until the school gets to its capacity of 750.

The new school is built over three storeys and includes 15 classrooms, specialist science rooms, a large hall, a library and a suite for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
