Fostering Drop In To Be Held In Black Country

People interested in fostering can find out more at a drop-in session being held by Dudley Council’s fostering service next week.

The service is looking for new foster carers to provide homes for looked after children in the borough. The session will be held at Zion Christian Centre in Halesowen on Tuesday 26th April from 6.30pm.

It’s an opportunity for people who have an interest in fostering to find out more by speaking informally to a member of the fostering team and also some of Dudley’s existing carers.

The service is currently running a campaign ‘I Foster, You Can Too’, which aims to encourage prospective applicants to realise the vast range of people who can foster and the type of children who need homes.

Dudley fostering offers a rewarding career, 24 hour support, training and guidance 365 days a year and a range of fostering options. Iona Payne, head of looked after children, said:

“We’re always looking for new foster carers and we’re really keen for anyone who thinks they can offer a safe home to one of our looked after children to come along to our drop-in session.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone interested in caring for teenagers, children with disabilities or those who have the ability to take more than one child so brothers and sisters can stay together.

“We would also like to hear from people interested in fostering a child long term. No one has to make a commitment when they attend a drop-in session, we’d just really like to hear from people who are interested.”

People can find out more about the drop in session and fostering by emailing fosteringrecruitment@dudley.gov.uk visiting dudley.gov.uk/fostering or calling the service on 01384 815833.
