Free concert to celebrate church organ anniversary

The sound of the Tower and Empress Ballrooms will return to St Peter's Church in Cradley this Saturday to kick off a year of celebration for the 90th birthday of their church organ.

Three organists will be playing the St Peter's Compton pipe organ with themes including film, dancing and old favourites.

The church welcomes Damon Willetts, Cameron Lloyd and Alec Walterswho are returning following their ‘Majestic Returns’ concert last year.

Refreshments will be served during the interval and there will be a second-hand music stall to browse.

There will also be a collection in aid of St Peter’s Community Vision Project which will see the community facilities of the building improved so that it can be used more by groups.

Concerts are held every other month. Future concerts include a cappella choir Stream of Sound, former Cradley organists returning, Alec Walters for a solo electronic concert, a special 90th birthday concert in October with Michael Jones and Cameron Lloyd, finishing off with a visit from David Ivory for a showing of Buster Keaton’s silent film “The General” with live organ accompaniment!

For details of future concerts, you can visit stpeterscradley.org/events.
