Local residents from Brierley Hill, Wordsley and surrounding areas will once again have an opportunity to improve their CPR and defibrillator knowledge this November.
Organised by Brierley Hill ward councillors Adam Davies and Wayne Little, the session will once again be held at Brierley Hill Civic Hall and see lifesaving training delivered by representatives from West Midlands Ambulance Service and local charity Dudley Community First Responders.
Now the third of these annual training sessions, the event is completely free to attend and will include a presentation on how to give CPR, use a defibrillator (AED), and an opportunity for attendees to practice CPR on the night using a ‘Resuscitation Annie’.
Taking place on Tuesday 14th November, those wishing to attend will need to arrive at Brierley Hill Civic for a 6.30pm start, and the session is expected to finish for around 8pm. Cllr Davies said:
“We know that when it comes to helping people who have suffered a cardiac arrest, that more lives can be saved if those around them know what to do. We saw it again earlier this year when Tina from Brierley Hill Market Café heroically jumped into action to help a passing shopper.
“That’s why we’ve brought this session back for the third year running – to give local people another opportunity to boost their knowledge and confidence when it comes to giving lifesaving CPR or using a defibrillator to help someone in need.”
Cllr Wayne Little added: “We’re really grateful to Andy from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Paul from Dudley CFRs for once again agreeing to deliver this important training. With more AED devices being installed around our ward, it is so important that people know how to use them.”
Booking isn’t essential, but attendees are asked to register online beforehand if possible to help with preparation for the event.
Those who can’t register online will be welcome to turn up on the night.
