Gentlemen Songsters sing to raise funds for two local charities

The Gentlemen Songsters male voice choir have been fundraising and entertaining audiences for over 60 years and recently handed over cheques for £2,650 to two local causes.

Songster and former Dudley Mayor Steve Waltho climbed 18 Lakeland peaks in June and later on that month the Songsters held a sell-out Black Country Showcase concert.

Proceeds from the two events were shared between two local causes close to the Songsters hearts. Chairman Ken Crane handed over a cheque for £1,325 to New Cross Prostate Cancer Support Group and the Songsters President, Anne Hodkinson then presented a cheque for £1,325 to Access In Dudley's Chair, Tina Boothroyd. Ken said:

"We were delighted to be able to give donations to these two wonderful causes and praise their commitment to making the world a better place to live in.

"I'd also like to publicise our next major concert taking place at Dudley Town Hall on Friday October 6th commencing 7.30pm. Our guests are the nationally acclaimed Sons of Pitches who won Gareth Malone's Naked Choir competition in 2015.

"This will be a unique combination of two choral styles and we urge people to get their tickets now for what should prove to be a very entertaining night out."
