Glass Cone displays royal themed pieces in honour of The Queen

The Red House Glass Cone will be displaying royal themed pieces from its collection in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

There are commemorative pieces on display in the education room for the period of mourning, including coins, coronation mugs and glasses and a photograph of the Queen visiting the Stuart Crystal Trade stand at the NEC.

There are also pieces of glass from the borough collection, including a Stuart Crystal Golden Jubilee glass and a stipple engraved goblet for Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh’s 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Stuarts, now the site of the Red House Glass Cone, made many pieces of glassware for the royal household and numerous commemorative pieces which are now part of the borough’s glass collection. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

"Stuart Crystal has produced many commemorative items for royal occasions over the years. This small sample of items from the borough’s collection will allow visitors to the cone to reflect on different periods from Queen Elizabeth’s reign and the area’s own glassmaking heritage.

"Books of condolence are available to sign in Dudley Council House, St Thomas and St Luke’s in Dudley (Top Church), all borough libraries and Dudley Archives."

An online book of condolence is also available.
