Stourbridge Glass Museum has announced that its request to rename the local bus stop serving the museum and the historic Red House Glass Cone has been officially approved.
The stop is now titled “Glass Museums”, providing clearer recognition for both sites and improving wayfinding for visitors across the region.
Digital systems across the network will update over the next week, and the physical bus‑stop flags will be changed in due course as part of Transport for West Midlands’ scheduled update cycle.
The change marks a small but meaningful improvement for the thousands of visitors who travel to the Glass Quarter each year.
This request was undertaken as part of a heritage‑engagement project led by two work‑experience students from Halesowen College, Lewis Burton and Jack Smith, during their placement at Stourbridge Glass Museum.
Lewis Burton said: “It’s amazing to see something we worked on become a real change in the community. Being part of a project that helps visitors find the museum more easily has been a great experience, and I’m proud that our work has made a difference.”
The museum continues to invest in opportunities for young people to gain hands‑on experience in heritage, museum operations, and community engagement. The successful renaming demonstrates the impact students can have when given meaningful roles within cultural organisations.
