Government to take over Sandwell Council children's services

Sandwell Council’s children's services department is being taken over by Government commissioners.

The move comes as the Government announced social services failing vulnerable children will face tough reprimands.

In June, Ofsted inspectors judged the department’s safeguarding and social care services for vulnerable children were “inadequate”, and managers “ineffective”

However, the council claimed there’d been significant improvements since the previous Ofsted judgement two years earlier.
