Halesowen Santa Sleigh Run is a record breaking success

The festive spirit was in full swing with another triumphant year of Santa's Sleigh Run which not only brought joy to countless faces but also raised an astounding £1,900, marking the largest amount since the tradition began in 2021.

The festive event which took place across the north of Halesowen was organised by local Councillor Stuart Henley.

The driving force behind this community initiative, he expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support. Stuart said:

"It's heartening to witness the community coming together to spread joy and generosity. This year's success is a testament to the vibrant spirit of Halesowen North."

The funds raised will be distributed to several deserving causes, including £500 for the Real Mama Tribe—a local group combating loneliness in motherhood—and an equal amount for the Russells Hall Neonatal Unit at Russells Hall Hospital.

The remaining £900 will contribute to the Dudley Mayor Charities, supporting Prostate Cancer UK, Ups and Downs, and Mary Stevens Hospice.

Looking ahead to next year, Councillor Henley announced that the public will play a pivotal role in selecting the charities. The nomination and voting process has commenced, with residents encouraged to participate through the Facebook group

Councillor Henley extended heartfelt thanks to the community for their enthusiastic turnout and generous donations. A special acknowledgment also goes to the dedicated volunteers, emphasising that their invaluable contributions make the event possible.

As the curtain falls on another successful year, Councillor Henley wishes everyone a Happy New Year and assures the community that Santa and friends will return for more festive cheer in December 2024.
