Helping people to stay well this winter

Help with the cost of heating homes is just one of the ways people are being offered support from Dudley Council this winter.

A range of services are available to help eligible people stay safe and keep well over the colder months.

Through the scheme, people will be able to get help with accessing food and medicines if they are unable to get out and about during periods of cold weather along with information and advice on the cost of heating their home.

Staff can also suggest different ways to stay active and connected with others by getting people involved in local activities in their communities. Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member for public health, said:

“We are committed to helping those in greatest need to stay safe and well in their homes this winter through our wellbeing scheme.

“Some of the practical ways we can help include providing fuel and food vouchers. If you think you might be eligible, please get in touch.”

Winter wellbeing booklets can be picked up from Dudley Council Plus or a local library. The booklets are packed with tips, useful information and have a handy directory of helpful contacts.
