Hospice to put on three Tree of Light remembrance ceremonies this Christmas

Mary Stevens Hospice are working with three local venues to host their annual remembrance ceremonies for Black Country residents this Winter.

The services are an opportunity for the local community to come together in remembrance of those they have loved and lost along the way.

A non-religious ceremony will be held at Hagley Golf Club on the evening of Wednesday 22nd November, at 7pm. Later that same evening, the iconic tree in the Hospice grounds will be lit, and remain on until Friday 5th January 2017.

St Mary's Church in Oldswinford will continue their support of the event by hosting the ceremony on Saturday 25th November at 4pm, before a final ceremony takes place on Sunday 26th November at St John the Baptist Church in Halesowen. Marie Faux, Bereavement Support Officer, Mary Stevens Hospice said:

“Remembering those we have loved is a very important part of grieving. At our Tree of Light ceremonies, we offer a special environment in which we give thanks for those memories and come together to support other members of our community through a difficult time.

"There will be readings, music performed by some very talented local artists and choirs, and the chance to light a candle or sponsor a light in memory of your loved one.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to either purchase a candle to light at the event, or sponsor a light on the Tree, which will be lit at the Hospice on the 22nd and remain alight until the 12th day of Christmas.
