Jennlee Shallow confirmed to play the lead as The Bodyguard returns to Wolverhampton

The actress will star as Rachel Marron as the hit show, inspired by the 1992 film, arrives at Wolverhampton Grand as part of a national tour.

Jennlee will play the role of Rachel Marron, a part made famous by musical megastar, Whitney Houston, at the Lichfield Street theatre from Tuesday 25th June. Alexandra Burke will alternate the role at selected performances at the theatre between 2nd and 6th July.

The actresses theatre credits include Nala in The Lion King in both Australia and Germany, Deena in Dreamgirls and Sarah in Ragtime. Jennlee has also performed in the Cirque du Soleil shows Kooza and Viva Elvis.

The Bodyguard had its world premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in 2012 and was nominated for four Olivier Awards. A sell out 18 month UK and Ireland tour followed, before the show returned to the West End at the Dominion Theatre.

It follows the story of former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar, Rachel Marron, from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love. The show features a host of irresistible classics including So Emotional, I Have Nothing, I Wanna Dance with Somebody and one of the biggest hit songs of all time – I Will Always Love You.

Tickets for The Bodyguard are now on sale and can be bought online at grandtheatre.co.uk, by calling 01902 42 92 12 or in person at the Box Office.
