26 people from across the West Midlands have been named in The King’s New Year Honours List and include 2 OBEs, 11 MBEs and 13 receiving British Empire Medals.

Each year, people of all ages and backgrounds are honoured for the remarkable impact they have on the lives of others.

The list includes two OBE's, one for services to nursing that goes to Ann Marie Riley, Chief Nurse at University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust and the other for services to musical heritage which is awarded to Dr Harjinder Singh Lallie.

MBE’s are awarded to Jon Gilchrist, Artistic Director and Chief Executive at Birmingham Hippodrome for services to theatre; British skating legend, John Fry for services to roller speed skating and Matthew Daniels for his work with the LGBTQ+ community.

BEM’s go to fundraiser, Manny Singh Kang for services to charity; Frank Chamberlain for services to heritage and community and husband and wife team, Ryan and Amy Jackson, for providing services to Bereaved Parents after co-founding The Lily Mae Foundation in memory of their daughter.

The Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Derrick Anderson CBE, said: “Across the West Midlands, countless remarkable individuals work tirelessly to make our region a better, brighter and more compassionate place.

"Many are well known within their own communities, yet their contributions often go unrecognised more widely. This year’s recipients reflect an inspiring range of achievements and offer a glimpse into the character of our region and the people who make it exceptional.

"We are deeply grateful for all they do, day in and day out, and I am truly delighted to see so many receive the recognition they deserve in the New Year Honours.

“Through the work of the West Midlands Lieutenancy, I meet many people who give their time and energy to support others. Now more than ever, there are countless unsung heroes worthy of honour - they simply need someone to put their name forward.

"I encourage everyone across the region to think about who is making a real difference, so we can continue to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding individuals who enrich our communities.”

The individual Honours are announced twice a year to mark The King’s official birthday in June and the New Year Honours which are announced at the end of December.

Nomination details can be found on the West Midlands Lieutenancy website at wmlieutenancy.org.
