Kingswinford Academy pupils praised for Eco-Committee work

Students and staff from Kingswinford Academy’s Eco-Committee have been praised by their local MP, Mike Wood, for sustainability work.

On a recent visit to the school, Dudley South MP Mike Wood watched a series of presentations put together by the students to outline their thoughts and ideas for improving the environment. Following the visit, the MP said:

“While in many ways our local environment here in the UK is now healthier than it was just a few generations ago – for example, thanks to technological advancements and new emissions standards, the air we breathe today is almost certainly fresher than the air we breathed forty years ago – we know a changing global climate, habitat loss, as well as local issues such as people’s behaviours when disposing of single use plastic packaging, are still really big problems that we need to tackle head on.

“The students have clearly put a lot of effort into researching and preparing their ideas, and I’ll look forward to staying in touch with the committee to hear how these plans progress – including joining them on one of their regular litter picks in the local area.”
