Learn To Grow Your Own In Stourbridge Workshops

People can learn how to be self sufficient in ‘grow your own’ themed workshops at Mary Stevens Park this spring.

The council-run park is inviting people to come along and learn more about how to plant and grow their own food.

It is offering an eight week informal course, which will be led by a Royal Horticulturalist Society accredited specialist.

Starting on Thursday April 28 from 10am to noon in the tea gardens, people can develop a food growing area and learn more about planting including preparing the ground and sewing seeds as well as encouraging growth by watering, feeding, weeding and trimming.

Alan Lunt, strategic director of the place directorate at Dudley Council, said:

“This is a fantastic course for anyone who wants to learn how to grow their own fruit and vegetables, which is proven to have big health benefits.

"This is one of many activities taking place in the wonderful setting of Mary Stevens Park.”

Although there is no fee for the course, people are asked to contribute £20 towards the cost of materials and refreshments.

For more information or to book a place on the course, people can call 01384 815279.
