People came together for an organised litter pick in Dudley town centre.
Organised by the Dudley Town Centre Partnership, the group of volunteers were joined by officers from Dudley Council today (Wed Jun 4) to fill bags of litter from around the town.
Dudley Council will now sort through the collected waste, sending as much as possible off for recycling.
It is hoped the operation will be the first of many as the partnership continues to support and encourage initiatives that boost footfall, improve the look and feel of the town and increase visitor numbers.
Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader of Dudley Council, said:
“It was great to see the volunteers on the litter pick today and meet the incredible community members who are dedicated to keeping Dudley clean.
“I would like to thank the Town Centre Partnership for organising this activity, it is shocking to see the amount of litter that people have thrown. I would encourage anyone visiting the town to be respectful of others and help to keep our town nice by throwing rubbish away properly.”
People who live or work in the area can find out more about the partnership and how to join future litter picks by emailing dudleytcp@gmail.com.
