Live music at Kinver Music Festival this weekend

The fourth annual Kinver Music Festival kicks off this Friday evening.

Venues across the village will be hosting free live music to suit all tastes from Friday July 14 through to Sunday July 16. The festival will kick off on Friday night with the vintage sounds of The Bluebird Belles in Harleys Smokehouse at Dunsley Hall Hotel from 7pm.

There'll also be folk music from Ireland, Scotland, England, France and Eastern Europe with O’Farrell’s Frolics at the KSCA - plus live music of all sorts at pubs throughout the village.

On Saturday July 15 - there'll be music in The Old Tea Rooms from midday, an afternoon of music on an open air stage outside St Peter’s Church Hall - and later that evening blues and roots star Ian Parker and his band will be headlining in the church hall itself where there will also be a real ale bar and Indian food.

On Sunday July 16 - a full programme of music at Dunsley Hall Hotel will kick off with Three Blind Mice at 1pm. Popular Beth Sherburn and Dan Greenway are also on the bill which will see Big Jim and The Gumbo Shakers headlining from 7pm.

Live music will also continue at pubs around the village and Kinver High School will play host to a raft of young musicians from midday. Festival organiser Tim Charnock said:

“We’re keen to encourage young talent, so were delighted this year when local schools wanted to take part. We have a dedicated programme of music at Kinver High School running on Sunday through from noon until evening, packed with talented young musicians and choral singers.

"It brings another element into the eclectic mix that is Kinver Music Festival.”

He said the event has become more popular each year and added: "We're expecting around 2,500 visitors this year."
