Local MP congratulates pupil at Manor Way Primary School on creating his Christmas Card

Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James paid a visit to the school on the last day of term to congratulated Year 5 pupil Sabira on designing the winning entry for his annual Christmas Card Competition.

Over 800 students from schools across Halesowen & Rowley Regis took part, and as ever there was a high quality of entries for James to choose from.

James has also visited Huntingtree Primary School, Highfields Primary School, Lutley Primary School and Windsor High School in recent weeks to present certificates to the runners-up, and also had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in Parliament and present him with a card designed by Sabira. James said:

"As ever there were many strong entries in my Christmas Card Competition and picking a winner from over 800 is no easy task! I congratulate Sabira for her winning design, and it was great to have the chance to meet her when I visited Manor Way.

"The Prime Minister was also very impressed with it when I showed him the card! A big thank you to all the local children who have taken part, as well as the staff who’ve made the time to facilitate it in their schools, and I wish everyone who’s been involved a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."

Lisa Buffery, Executive Headteacher at Manor Way Primary School said: "The whole school is absolutely delighted that Sabira’s reindeer design has won the Houses of Parliament Christmas Card competition.

"We’ve been hugely excited to see Sabrina’s design in print and it’s a real honour to know it will be seen by hundreds of people when they receive a card from the Prime Minister this year.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to James Morris MP for taking the time to come into school today to meet with Sabira and present her with a copy of the card. We are all super proud!"
