Local MP Supports Universities Outreach Event 2016

The Raising Aspirations in Stourbridge programme is a project local MP Margot James is running in the constituency for the benefit of students in local schools and their parents.

The programme is designed to raise the aspirations of young people in Stourbridge, to open their eyes to types of careers that might not have occurred to them, and to help inspire them to do what it takes to fulfil their potential.

The programme will comprise a series of presentations, workshops, visits and networking fairs; and will be supported by selective universities, Further Education Colleges, businesses large and small, and other professional bodies.

This years event will take place on Friday 29th April at Glasshouse College between 5pm – 7pm and the following schools have been invited to attend: Redhill School, Pedmore Technology College, Ridgewood High School, Haybridge High School, Oldswinford Hospital School, Stourbridge College, Thorns Community College, King Edward VI College and Elmfield School.

The evening is be a ‘university fair’ style event, where students will get a chance to network with a variety of leading universities to help them explore their options for when they leave school or college.

Universities attending this year include Aberystwyth University, Birmingham University, Bath University, Cambridge University, Cardiff University, Exeter University, Keele University, King’s College London, Lancaster University, Leicester University, Northampton University, Oxford University, Queen’s University, Belfast University, Southampton University, Staffordshire University and Surrey University.
