Local youth take the stage for a cause in Cradley Heath

Cradley Heath is set for an inspiring night of music and mission as the West Midlands Youth Band and Nexus Youth Choir come together for a special concert.

Celebrating God’s Faithfulness takes place on Friday 19th July at Cradley Heath Salvation Army, with all proceeds going to support the charity's West Midlands Summer School.

This vibrant evening will also feature the Divisional Candidates’ Farewell for Jacob Smith and Lee Highton-Nicholls, two young leaders who are stepping forward in their call with The Salvation Army.

They will be attending the church and charity’s William Booth College to start their training as Officers. Jacob, who currently attends Dudley Corps and works at Cradley Heath as Corps Mission Development Leader will be attending the college full time come this September, whilst Lee who remains as Territorial Envoy at Darlaston and Willenhall Corps will attend the training on a part-time basis.

The Nexus Youth Choir and West Midlands Youth Band are known for their energetic and uplifting performances, bringing together young people from across the region in praise and purpose.

Major Claire Allman, Divisional Leader of The Salvation Army West Midlands Division, said: “The evening aims to be more than just a concert; it’s a testimony to the power of young people on fire for God.

"Nexus Youth Choir and the West Midlands Youth Band pour heart and soul into every note, and this celebration of Jacob and Lee’s journey makes it even more meaningful. We invite everyone to come and be part of something deeply moving and community-filled.”

The Salvation Army West Midlands Division provides a range of events and activities, including summer school for children and young people.

Their West Midlands Summer School is a week-long residential programme that nurtures young people through music, discipleship, and creative exploration. It offers a safe, faith-filled environment where friendships are built, confidence is grown, and spiritual gifts are discovered.

Jacob Smith, Corps Mission Development Leader of The Salvation Army, Cradley Heath said: “Our summer school transforms lives. It gives young people the confidence, faith, and friendships that carry them through all seasons of life. Events like this youth concert help make that possible.”

The Salvation Army in Cradley Heath offers a welcoming space throughout the week with a variety of activities and support services for those facing hardship.

Tickets for Celebrating God’s Faithfulness can be bought at the door, or reserved via email, at a cost of £5.
