Lorry driver fatally injured in RTC

A lorry driver has died following a road traffic collision in Tipton.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a collision between a lorry and a tree on the Birmingham New Road at around 8.26am on Tuesday morning.

They sent two ambulances, a senior paramedic, a paramedic officer, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

“On arrival, crews discovered the lorry driver, a man, who was still inside his vehicle following the collision. Ambulance staff quickly assessed he had suffered multiple serious injuries in the collision and worked alongside colleagues from the fire service to secure access to the patient.

“Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
