Man arrested following deaths of two children in Wolverhampton collision

Police investigating the deaths of two young brothers in a collision in Wolverhampton have arrested on a man on suspicion of causing their deaths by dangerous driving.

The 23-year-old, from Birmingham, was arrested early this afternoon and will be now be questioned over the fatal crash on the Birmingham New Road. 

Pawanveer Singh, aged 23 months, and his brother Sanjay, aged 10 years, were with their mother in their BMW turning right into Lawnswood Avenue, when they were struck by an Audi S3 at around 8.45pm on Thursday 14th March.

The driver of the Audi fled the scene on foot. A 31-year-old man from a third car, a Bentley, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released pending further investigation. Detective Sgt Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“This afternoon’s arrest is a significant development, but the investigation is continuing and we still have lots of lines of enquiry to pursue.

“We would appeal to the public to keep contacting us with any information.

“Pawanveer and Sanjay’s family have been informed of this afternoon’s development, and we continue to support them through this terrible period.”
