Man charged after loaded gun seized in Tipton

West Midlands Police have charged a man with firearms offences after a gun was recovered following disorder in Tipton.

Police were called to Peel Street just after 6.30pm on 26 April after reports of violence involving people with weapons.

A handgun loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition was recovered at the scene and an investigation launched to identify those involved.

Choudry Ahmed, 45, was arrested on Wednesday and was yesterday charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of cannabis.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton magistrates. A second man aged 28 has also been arrested and released on bail while the investigation continues.

Investigations continue into the disorder and anyone with information has been asked to get in touch via 101, quoting 20/227519/26.
