Man charged over cannabis farm double murder

Detectives investigating a double killing after a cannabis factory robbery in Dudley have this evening (24 February) charged a man with two counts of murder.

Saghawat Ramzan is accused of shooting 19-year-old Khuzaimah Douglas and Waseem Ramzan, aged 36, with a crossbow in Pensnett Road, Brierley Hill, last Thursday morning. The 46-year-old from Pensnett Road has been remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.

It comes as officers arrested a further 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder yesterday afternoon. He is currently in police custody for questioning.

It was initially believed the two men had been killed as a result of stab wounds but further enquiries established their injuries were caused by a crossbow. Officers investigating the disorder have already charged a 19-year-old man with conspiracy to burgle and perverting the course of justice.

Two men aged 21 and 23 have also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and a 42-year-old for assisting an offender. They have all been released on police bail. Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro, from the force's homicide team, said:

"This is an ongoing and constantly developing investigation. Although we've charged a man in connection with the murders we still need to hear from anyone with information about what happened in the early hours of 20 February.

"We believe there are still people out there who haven't come forward and could have crucial information."

Anyone with information is urged to message via the Live Chat facility on the West Midlands Police website or call 101. Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111; callers won’t be asked for their names and calls cannot be traced.
