Man in court over Merry Hill stabbing incident

A man appeared before Dudley Magistrates yesterday after a teenager was stabbed at the Merry Hill shopping centre on Saturday.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, was treated in hospital after being knifed at around 11.15am on Saturday. Ronan Parker, also aged 19, appeared at Dudley Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with wounding with intent.

Parker, of Dixons Green Road, Dudley, spoke to confirm his name and address during the short hearing. He did not enter a plea. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear next at Wolverhampton Crown Court on August 7.

The victim was left in intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham following the attack and is now in a stable condition.

Police were called to the busy shopping centre following the stabbing on the upper mall near M&S.
