Man dies after Wolverhampton shooting

A murder enquiry has been launched after a man was shot dead in Wolverhampton.

Police were called to Valley Road, Park Village, following reports of gunshots being heard at around 9.10pm last night.

Minutes later, officers were made aware that a man with serious injuries had been driven to nearby New Cross Hospital.

The victim, who has not yet been formally identified, died in hospital at around 2am today. His family will be supported by specially trained officers.

The investigation is in its early stages and officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
