Man who died in Halesowen collision named as family pay tribute

The family of a man who died in a collision in Halesowen yesterday afternoon have paid tribute to a ‘beloved partner, father, brother, son and uncle’.

Gary Simpson, aged 38, was travelling on his motorbike on Stourbridge Road at around 3pm when he collided with a Land Rover Discovery which was turning onto Richmond Street.

Despite the best efforts of people who offered first aid before paramedics arrived, Gary was sadly confirmed dead at the scene. The driver of the car is assisting police with their enquires, as are a number of witnesses.

Gary’s family have paid tribute through a specialist family liaison officer, PC Glyn Hanks. Glyn said:

“I have met the family and can see that Gary was a beloved partner, father, brother, son and uncle.

“The whole family is devastated by his sudden and unexpected loss but have asked that anyone who is able to assist our investigation to please get in touch with the team.

“In the meantime they have asked for their privacy to be respected at this very difficult time.”

Officers urge anyone who has any information or dash cam footage and not yet spoken to them, to contact live chat on the West Midlands Police website, or call 101, quoting log number 2116 of 17 July.
