Margot James MP to host annual apprenticeship evening

Margot James MP

Stourbridge MP Margot James is to host an Apprenticeship Evening at Stourbridge College on Thursday 3rd December.

The event will feature a series of presentations given by companies, and a ‘marketplace’ where students and parents can network with apprenticeship providers.

Previous events have seen representatives from over thirty companies, training providers and local colleges meet with over 200 local students and parents.

Attendees have the chance to visit organisations’ stalls, collecting documentation about their apprenticeship schemes and training programmes as well as chatting informally with organisation representatives. Past exhibitors include Aston Martin, The National Apprenticeship Service, and stores including TK Maxx.

The evenings also include a series of workshops, both on apprenticeships and further education in general, but also focusing on sector-specific apprenticeships in finance and design. The sector-specific workshops aimed to provide an in-depth briefing on the opportunities in that sector and the benefits of pursuing such an apprenticeship, as well as offering parents and students the chance to ask questions of the experts delivering the workshop.

The event is part of Margot’s ‘Aspiration Stourbridge’ programme, which has aimed to develop opportunities for local students over the past few years. Anybody interested in atending should register online at margotjames.com.
