Mayor Celebrates Local Volunteers

The Mayor of Dudley celebrated the work of public health volunteers at Himley Hall and Park last week, as part of national volunteers week.

Volunteers from public health’s self management team were invited to take part in a tour of the popular hall, led by one of their own volunteers, before joining Dudley’s mayor, Councillor Mohammed Hanif for tea.

The celebration at Himley was a thank you to volunteers who have supported over 600 local people this year alone through self management courses.

The courses help people living with or caring for someone with a long term health condition by teaching new skills to help better manage symptoms. Councillor Mohammed Hanif, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“Volunteers week is a great opportunity to celebrate the work of volunteers who are happy to give their own time to help others.

“The volunteers I joined yesterday from public health’s self management programme do an amazing job, they’re a true inspiration to us all. I would like to thank them again for the support they give local people.”
