Mayor joins charity for a cuppa at new café

The Mayor of Dudley toasted the opening of a new charity café in Stourbridge.

Mayor, Councillor Dave Tyler, officially opened the new Dudley Mind Café, Food for Thought, in Victoria Street, last week.

Dudley Mind is one of the Mayor’s chosen charities for the year. He got to tour the new facility which not only offers drinks and cakes but also provides space for meetings and courses.

The borough’s first citizen also chatted to staff about the work of the charity and the importance of fundraising. Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“Dudley Mind is a cause very close to my heart which is why I chose it as one of my charities for the year. It was a real privilege to chat to some of their representatives and find out about the incredible work they do which really is a lifeline for the people who need it.

“It was also a pleasure to officially open the café and I urge everyone to pop along and enjoy some of the things they offer.”

The charity is planning for income from the café to support its mental health work in the borough, and will, in the coming months put on a range of activities and courses at the café to help support healthy lifestyles and wellbeing for their visitors.

For more information on the café call 01384 910246 or pop in for a coffee.
