Mayor lends backing to Operation Santa

The Mayor of Dudley is backing this year’s Operation Santa, calling for people to donate gifts and toys to families in need this Christmas.

Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler is supporting the project which is coordinated by Dudley Council for Voluntary Service (DVCS).

DCVS organises and distributes the collection of items to families who are struggling with income below the poverty line in Dudley borough. Dudley Council staff are collecting items for the appeal at various offices across the borough. Alongside toys and presents and gifts for teens, people can also donate wrapping paper and Christmas themed food.

To find out where your nearest collection point is call 01384 573381 or email volunteer@dudleycvs.org.uk. To keep up to date with the latest donations visit the Operation Santa website. The closing date for donations is 15th December. Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“Operation Santa is a wonderful scheme, which Dudley CVS has been running for over 40 years. It gives people the opportunity to share a little Christmas joy with those who are less fortunate than they are.

“If you’re out shopping, it’s easy to pop an extra gift or food item into your trolley, knowing that this gift will mean so much to a family in need this Christmas.”
