The Mayor of Walsall opened a new purpose-built care home in Brownhills this week, marking a significant investment in high-quality care for older residents across the borough.
The new care home provides 90 en-suite bedrooms and is registered to deliver nursing, dementia and residential care, helping to meet growing demand for specialist support for Walsall’s residents.
Designed to offer a welcoming and enriching environment, the home features a range of beautiful communal spaces overlooking the canal and surrounding fields. Facilities include a dedicated arts and crafts room, cinema, coffee shop, activities room and a snug, supporting residents’ wellbeing, social connection and quality of life.
The home also includes four dedicated bariatric rooms, each fitted with ceiling hoists, ensuring safe, comfortable and dignified care for residents with additional mobility needs.
Staffing at the home is fully recruited, with an experienced team of nurses bringing specialist backgrounds in dementia, renal and palliative care, ensuring residents receive compassionate, expert support tailored to their individual needs.
The care home was officially registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in December 2025, meeting all required standards to begin welcoming residents.
Councillor Harrison said: "Providing high-quality care for our elderly residents is of the utmost importance to Walsall.
"This new care home represents a significant commitment to dignity, compassion and choice for older people in our borough, and I am delighted to see such a well-designed facility supported by an experienced and dedicated care team “
The opening of the Brownhills care home reinforces Walsall’s commitment to supporting residents to live safely, comfortably and with independence for as long as possible, while ensuring families have access to trusted, high-quality care close to home.
